XIII Minutes: Seeing Is Deceiving
XIII Minutes continues to show just how much sound three musicians can create. Their new single, “Seeing Is Deceiving,” is heavy, powerful, and carries a message that deserves attention.
I also love the artwork. The image immediately makes you stop and think, which is exactly what good art should do. It fits perfectly with a song dealing with the lasting mental, emotional, and spiritual wounds caused by childhood mistreatment.
According to drummer Jamie Kucinski, the song is written as a conversation between a wounded child and Christ. The child struggles with trusting Christ’s invitation in Matthew 11:28 to come to Him for rest. The message also draws from Christ’s warning in Matthew 18:5 through 6 and Luke 17:2 about causing children to stumble. It is a difficult subject, but the song ultimately points toward healing and restoration through Jesus.
Musically, XIII Minutes delivers again. Jerrod Cunningham, also vocalist for I Am the Pendragon, brings strength and emotion that fit the song perfectly. Jamie Kucinski’s drumming fills the track and keeps everything moving with force, while John Watson’s guitar work is phenomenal. Together, the three create a cohesive and incredibly heavy sound.
The breakdowns add even more impact and give the song some of its strongest moments.
“Seeing Is Deceiving” hits you square in the kidney. XIII Minutes is making music with purpose, and this latest single makes it clear that they are not slowing down anytime soon.
“Seeing Is Deceiving” releases August 27, 2026 through NRT Music.
